From vacations to dealing with illnesses, we understand that our employees need flexibility and understanding. All employees eligible (those working 20 or more hours per week) accrue earned time off (ETO) and extended sick leave (ESL). For full information about ETO and ESL, please speak with HR. Note that employees who work 20-30 hours per week receive pro-rated ETO and ESL.

We believe in empowering our employees to care for themselves and their families. We’re proud to offer both individual and family health benefits through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island to both full-time and part-time employees.

Eligibility Requirements: 401(k), Life Insurance, and Disability Insurance

All employees with one year or 1,000 hours of service at a nonprofit health/human services agency within the last three years are eligible for 401(k), life insurance, and long-term/short-term disability coverage the first month after the date of hire.

Employees without nonprofit experience are eligible for enrollment on the first of the month following their first anniversary with the Groden Network.

We believe that all our employees should be able to plan confidently for the future. Our 401(k) plan is part of how we make that possible. We match half of an employee’s contribution up to a maximum of 4%. All employer contributions are fully vested upon completing three years of service.

  • We offer life insurance free of charge for qualifying employees equal to twice their annual salary.
  • We offer long-term disability insurance that provides approximately 60% of an employee’s monthly income if they are unable to work for more than six months due to illness.
  • We offer Behavioral Associates of Massachusetts employees short-term disability insurance that provides 66 2/3% of their weekly income if they are unable to work for more than one day due to injury, or eight days due to illness.

As part of our commitment to helping our employees build a financially secure future, we offer access to a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity plan. All employees are eligible on their date of hire.

We are committed to ensuring that all employees pursue ongoing development and continuing education to best serve our clients and help them live independent, satisfying lives. We’re proud to reimburse our employees for the coursework they complete in pursuit of professional development.

Why do I love working at the Groden Network? I guess I could say the obvious it is because I love what I do helping people with disabilities achieve their goals. I love watching the smiles they get when they can try and accomplish new things. I love the challenge of helping people change maladaptive behaviors.

I love working alongside people who truly care about the work we do, and I work with an outstanding team of supervisors. And, last but not least, I recently experienced a medical incident at the residence and the concern of the clients was so genuine there were tears, questions, and one of my guys who wants maintenance to fix everything said to staff as I lay on the floor, "Roland dead call maintenance." When I heard, I couldn’t stop laughing! It is the reason I love coming to work.

Employee Engagement and Inclusion Manager, Human Resources

I’ve been with Groden since 1986. I started out as a treatment teacher in a classroom and the following year was promoted to lead teacher, or something like that (these were the titles, back in the day). A few years later, I was promoted to supervisor. In 1990 I started working for Dr. Gerald Groden, as his assistant. After 12 years working for Gerry, I wanted something different, a job that would make a direct difference in the life of a child. In 2014, Treatment Foster Care was looking for a program coordinator and I decided to apply and was given the job. I’ve been with foster care ever since. In 2018, I was promoted to GCTFC Director of Administration when the director of 26 years retired. The one thing that has never changed in my 34 years at Groden is the connectedness I feel with colleagues and staff, in addition to the flexibility that has been allowed in my work schedule all these years, especially while raising my three sons. The support of the rest of the leadership team has only reinforced my commitment and loyalty to Groden! It is all these reasons why I love working for Groden.
